Crewe manager details FEMA grant bids, easements for waterline and portable generator plan

Town Manager Phil updated the Crewe Town Council on several infrastructure and grant matters, starting with outreach about easements tied to a proposed new water line: subcontractors (KDR Real Estate Associates) are distributing letters on behalf of the engineer Austin Brock & Bro and staff will connect residents who receive letters with town contacts. “If you have any questions, you can reach out to me and I'll put you in touch with them or you can contact KDR directly,” Phil said.
Phil reported the town was awarded a $50,000 Vax aid grant to support a local grocer and that a congressionally directed spending request for a local facility has moved to the Senate budget stage. He said he submitted two FEMA grant applications — one to add 20,000 gallons of wastewater storage at the East End pump station and one for a portable generator to support the town facility as a warming/cooling/feeding site in outages — and that each grant would require roughly a 5% local match (Phil said that match is committed from ARPA funds). Phil said the generator could also be moved to other critical facilities as needed.
