Resident urges council to restore and maintain Crewe cemetery, offers to lead volunteer effort

A resident told the Crewe Town Council during public comment that the town cemetery has many bare spots and unkempt areas after recent tree and bush removals and mower damage to metal ornaments and grave decorations. “I would volunteer my time to go out there helped spruce the place up, help TJ out,” the resident said, offering to buy trees or bushes and to coordinate a small volunteer committee once the council approves plantings.
Council members acknowledged the concerns and discussed constraints tied to choosing root-friendly trees and avoiding damage to sidewalks and headstones. Town staff agreed to follow up with Public Works supervisor TJ to identify specific sections of the cemetery for improvement and to contact the resident for volunteer coordination. The resident said she would provide contact information to staff so volunteers and town crews can coordinate cleanup and possible plantings.
