Public Works Director Jonathan Turner told the board April 7 the city has an ongoing sinkhole on East Franklin and that two contractor quotes have been received. Turner said Red Oak Construction — a contractor the city has used previously — quoted $565,000 for the repair but that staff believed the estimate may include some markup and are still soliciting other bids.
Turner told aldermen Red Oak would be "a month, month and a half out before they could even start the work" if selected. The board directed staff to continue seeking additional contractors and price comparisons before entering a contract.
