Public works manager Jonathan Tanner told the board Mississippi Power scheduled a planned outage starting at midnight (Wednesday) and running until about 6:00 a.m., which could affect the pellet mill, the city's water well and some Hickory Street residents. "Me and my crew will be out at 11:30 waiting on it ... we'll hope for the best, prepare for work," Tanner said.
Staff said Mississippi Power and the utility partner were rerouting sources so the outage should be limited (some areas originally planned for a full-town outage were removed), but if a substation cannot handle the load the city could still lose power and would need to shut down and restart the water system. The board asked staff to monitor and keep residents informed of service impacts.
