Shamrock Lakes tests online bill pay; trial yields mixed participation
Summary
Town board reviewed a one-month trial of online bill pay: 13 residents responded to the signup survey, roughly eight completed payments, and timing/processing issues led the board to run at least one more trial cycle while clarifying late-fee language and reporting procedures.

Shamrock Lakes’ town board reviewed the results of its first online bill-pay pilot and agreed to run another trial month to collect clearer data. The trial organizer reported that 13 residents initially signed up and about eight completed transactions; several transactions were initiated after the town’s cut-off date, complicating reconciliation with bank deposit records.
Board members discussed practical fixes: updating flyer language to clarify when payments must be in the bank, encouraging residents to schedule payments earlier (suggested by one member as “by the 5th” to help ensure deposit by the town’s 10th cutoff), and asking participants to send an email confirmation after initiating a transaction so the treasurer can reconcile deposits. The group agreed to compare the payment log with the bank records for October, then restart the pilot as a clean slate in November to test whether participation or operational accuracy improves.
