Miss Spring told the board that estimates from the budget hearing were close but that the district underestimated the 'third Friday' enrollment count and voucher-school costs. "It was about $200,000 more than we had anticipated," she said of voucher costs. She added that the mill rate was slightly higher than projected, noting an increase of roughly six cents from the estimate, while the overall levy is approximately $2 million lower than the prior year.
A motion to approve the 2024–25 original budget was made and seconded; the board voted in favor and the chair announced the motion carried. Board members asked clarifying questions about the voucher costs and where adjustments appeared in the updated budget pages attached to the presentation.
The vote approved the budget as presented; subsequent separate votes addressed the certified levy and the community service fund levy.
