Commission approves AT&T wire-removal agreement and formalizes FPL easement

The Town Commission approved two utilities-related actions on Aug. 26. First, the commission authorized an agreement with AT&T to remove overhead wires in the south half of town, from the south side of Edwards Lane to the inlet. The minutes note four or five living units still use copper service; crews will test lines during removal and town staff will work with owners to convert active lines. "If all conversions are made, we will save around $30,000," the minutes say. Commissioner Roby DeReuil moved to approve the agreement and Commissioner Steven Smith seconded; motion passed 5-0.
Second, the commission approved an easement in favor of Florida Power & Light (FPL) to correct the record for an existing buried feeder and transformer near 340 Inlet Way. The minutes describe the action as a housekeeping approval to formalize long-standing FPL infrastructure that crosses town property and continues under Lake Worth to the main FPL substation. The motion passed unanimously.
