Police Chief David Pernice reviewed the department’s July 2024 activity and recent developments, reporting that from June 1 to Aug. 13 the department received 269 calls — about 3.63 calls per day — including pursuits, protection-from-abuse calls, warrants, domestic incidents, drug activity, homelessness responses and several suicide/mental-health incidents.
Chief Pernice said he and Officer Shelly attended Alert Active Shooter training July 24–25 hosted by Millcreek Police Department and described the training as beneficial. He also reported the UC Community Foundation awarded two grants: funding for four tasers and funding for additional security cameras to cover a section of North Main Street.
