Ramseur staff outlines AMI metering plan and tight LGC application timeline

Town staff updated the board on progress toward implementing AMI (advanced metering infrastructure) metering and the need to file an application and supporting documents with the Local Government Commission (LGC). The board heard that the service agreement work was completed previously and that the remaining step is to submit a multi-page application and a lengthy list of supporting materials to the LGC.
A staff member said the application and all required backup materials must be ready by June 8 to reach the LGC in time for its July meeting. "If we want to get on the July meeting of the LGC board, all of this has to be done by June 8th," the presenter said. Staff flagged that completing the application will require concentrated work on the town budget and supporting documentation in the coming weeks.
Staff named representatives with whom they have spoken, including Ann Moore and Rosalind Carter of the LGC, and said the mayor and staff will continue preparing the application after the budget workshop. No formal board action was taken at this meeting beyond direction to continue work toward the June 8 submission deadline.
