Board members reported on recent animal-shelter outreach and asked for approval to use the Wells Park garage temporarily to store goods for a garage sale tied to an adoption event.
Members said the shelter ran a dog-walking event with strong turnout and is planning an adoption-and-yard-sale effort around Oct. 10. The shelter asked to place donations and sale items in the Wells Park garage for about a week and a half; board members asked about food, breakers and a large crack in the garage floor that could allow water intrusion. One board member said there was no problem with temporary storage as long as food is not stored inside and safety issues are addressed; another offered to meet at the garage to hand over a key and help move items.
Members also discussed the shelter's budget strains — particularly the cost of litter — and fundraising approaches including a garage sale and potential donation drive planned for Nov. 22. The board asked staff to coordinate timing and logistics so that donated items can be stored and sold safely if turnout warrants it.
