Board members discussed the estimate, which included linear-foot breakdowns for North Shamrock, South Shamrock and other streets. They noted state law restrictions that prevent the town from paying deposits before work is completed and asked Campbell to accept payment upon receipt of invoice. The company has provided insurance information and the board requested confirmation that coverage is current.
The clerk outlined available funds in line items for street repair and maintenance, citing amounts in multiple accounts and a discretionary repair line of $19,524.31 that can be used for road maintenance. One member warned that final footage and pass counts would be verified and any disputed quantities could be adjusted before final payment.
A motion to approve the $6,800 expenditure was made and seconded; the board called the question and the motion carried. The board asked staff to get a formal written estimate for a separate $800 parking-lot reseal before voting on that smaller project.
The board also asked that any work that "doesn't look like it's sealed" be reported back so the contractor can address issues before final payment. The town will pay on receipt of invoice and hold final payment until the board verifies satisfactory completion.
