Owner willing to fill private retention pond on Anglican Pike but drainage would be needed, board told

"He thinks it's doable that he could fill it in and that probably could build a house on that property if somebody wanted to split it off," the committee member said, while noting that doing the work would likely require drainage work and that the pond was originally designed to collect runoff from surrounding lots. The speaker emphasized the pond is private property and that any expense would fall to the owner unless the town compels action. The board discussed alternatives including improving drainage or installing a fountain to reduce mosquitoes, and agreed to follow up with county surveyor input and further research of plats and drainage history.
