Council approved a professional-services agreement authorizing Dr. Michael Kelly to provide screening and testing for firefighters, up to a state-reimbursable cap of $1,250 per firefighter.
Administration said the proposal was selected through a procurement process that found Dr. Kelly’s availability better suited to firefighters’ schedules than one prior provider that offered limited on-site windows. The CFO explained the town submits invoices to the New Jersey program and is reimbursed by the state before paying the facility, so the township will not front the full cost to the provider.
Council members voiced support for the program and confirmed the testing cadence aligns with state rules (eligible firefighters may be tested once every three years under the reimbursement program). The resolution passed with council support.
