Board notes wetlands, septic slope and county comments on Old Post Tavern proposal

Board members reported findings from a site visit to the former Post Tavern property at 902 Route 35: the back half of the existing building would be removed, the planned septic field sits on a steep slope requiring fill, proposed new wetlands would be created toward the rear of the parcel, and several wetland flags are visible from the driveway alignment. "Seeing the location and the slopes in person gave us a better understanding of the layout," Chair Janet Anderson said after the visit.
The board also reviewed a letter from the Westchester County Department of Planning, which reiterated concerns and recommended steps including reducing impervious surfaces (which may reduce required parking), early coordination with DOT, DEP and the health department, and consideration of above-ground stormwater best practices and tree protection. The board indicated it expects results from the health department site visit in August and asked the applicant to return with more detailed materials for the August meeting.
