Council approves routine business, votes for meter-software upgrade and sets new equipment pay rates

The council opened its regular meeting, approved the minutes from the previous session and adopted routine financial reports before moving into departmental updates and agenda items. The chair called the meeting to order and members approved procedural motions by voice vote.

Finance staff told the council the checking account was cleared and noted a USDA transfer that “needs to be made,” and members voted to approve the financial report. The council spent substantial time on public-works matters: an engineering update on two remaining blocks of lanes, discussion of equipment and operator pay rates, and proposed ordinance revisions for yard maintenance and abandoned vehicles. Councilors approved a cloud-based upgrade to the town’s Cornwell/Trimble meter-reading software after staff said the one-time installation fee could be waived if the upgrade is completed this year.

The meeting included several administrative approvals of invoices and routine maintenance items (including paint and chemicals) and ended after a short photo opportunity. No ordinances were adopted at the meeting; the council primarily discussed draft code changes and directed staff to follow up on enforcement and mapping tasks.
