A local tax equalization meeting heard staff review a series of property assessment changes tied largely to recent sales and reported changes in building use, and approved the package of adjustments pending one follow-up re-evaluation.
A resident, Daryl, told the panel he wanted his property re-evaluated, saying the parcel had been assessed "at like 62,000" though it had been vacant and deteriorating and he had paid $16,000 (Daryl: SEG 028, SEG 033-034). A staff member responded, "I can definitely take a look at that and make some changes on it" and said staff would notify Amanda after completing the re-evaluation (Staff member: SEG 065-066; SEG 079-081).
Staff presented scores of individual adjustments. Examples discussed on the record included downgrading a building that no longer functioned as a restaurant and reclassifying it as a shop (structure value dropped from about $283,000 to $248,930), lowering a garage/ storage building's structure value from roughly $20,521 to $11,650 after confirming it was not livable, and adding basement finish and a three-season room to a recently purchased home, raising that structure value from about $123,925 to $214,650.
Following discussion the presiding member called for a motion to approve the staff-recommended changes, "Make a motion to approve everything for Darl spending"; the motion was seconded and the presiding member took the voice vote, declaring it approved after members said "I" (motion and vote recorded in meeting: SEG 528-536). Staff said they would complete Daryl's re-evaluation the next day and inform Amanda of the final amounts (Staff member: SEG 537-541).
The meeting concluded after members signed the official book and moved to adjourn at 7:29 p.m.
