Bridgewater DEIB survey reaches 38 early responses; committee outlines outreach

Chair Ashley reported the committee has received 38 responses to the online belonging survey and said the number is encouraging for the survey’s early stage. Shirley reported five hard-copy surveys were collected during the Juneteenth tabling and said she has those physical forms.
"We have 38 responses to the belonging survey, which is awesome," Ashley said, and she provided an early demographic breakdown: 8 respondents identified as men and 30 as women; 33 identified as white, 1 as Black or African American, 1 as Hispanic/Latino(a), 1 as multiracial and 2 marked other. Ashley said most respondents identify as heterosexual with a small number indicating other orientations and that she will analyze the data more closely once the survey closes.
Committee members proposed a publicity plan to increase responses: posting the survey link to the Bridgewater Residents Facebook page and the local 02324 page, asking Jackie Rose to include a link in the Buzz Around Bridgewater newsletter, and placing information or flyers at the town library and the senior center. Jed Phillips, library director, said the library is supportive and recommended using a link for online submission rather than relying solely on hard copies. The committee agreed to leave the survey open through August and set Sept. 1 as the deadline for final responses.
