Bridgewater DEIB chair says she will step down; committee seeks new chair

Ashley, chair of the Town of Bridgewater Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Committee, told members at the July 21 meeting that she does not feel comfortable continuing as chair and would like to return to the secretary role. She said the committee’s long-serving secretary, Jane, has not been responsive and her term has ended, leaving the secretary position open.
"I do not feel comfortable continuing as chair of the committee," Ashley said, and asked other members to consider taking the chair role. She specifically asked Shirley and Phil to think about whether either would be interested. Members agreed to take the matter under consideration and to resume the leadership discussion at the committee’s next meeting.
The committee did not finalize a leadership change during the session; members asked Ashley to follow up by email summarizing action items so the group can decide at the next meeting.
