"The plan we showed tonight was the plan that was submitted for rezoning," a developer representative said, while also explaining that staff comments and the wetland study required changes and that the team requested a later planning-board date to allow public engagement.
Multiple residents asked whether the town council could block or otherwise influence the rezoning; officials explained that the parcel lies outside municipal limits and under county zoning authority but that the town (within its extraterritorial jurisdiction) and residents may submit formal comments or resolutions to the planning board and county commissioners. Attendees were repeatedly encouraged to show up at the planning-board hearing and to submit written comments to the county.
