Tucker County Board adopts resolution urging state to stabilize PEIA

The Tucker County Board of Education read and adopted a resolution urging the state of West Virginia to stabilize the Public Employees Insurance Agency (PEIA). The resolution text stated that “a well-funded and sustainable PEIA is essential for attracting and retaining qualified educators and school personnel,” and connected PEIA instability to rising costs, diminished take-home pay and risks to the education workforce.
Board members moved to adopt the resolution, a second was made, and the chair announced the motion passed by a unanimous voice vote. The chair said he would sign the resolution and arrange for copies to be sent to the governor, the president of the West Virginia Senate, the speaker of the West Virginia House of Delegates and local legislative representatives. The resolution asks other school boards and public entities to join in advocating for PEIA stabilization.
