Wastewater upgrade awarded; district expects on-site work after preconstruction

The superintendent told the board the wastewater treatment plant contract was awarded to a CJQ company from Huntington and that a preconstruction meeting was scheduled. He said submittals and product orders are in and that construction will begin as components arrive; work is being staged to avoid disruption to school operations and the old system will remain available until the new system is ready for cutover.
Staff described a tentative January completion target but said the schedule depends on product delivery and the preconstruction meeting will give a firmer on-site timeline. "They're going to start as soon as they get things to be able to do the work," the superintendent said. The project was framed as necessary because “the old plan is not in great shape,” and staff characterized it as essential infrastructure work that is not highly visible to the public but critical to school operations.
