Superintendent: Door and window upgrades nearly complete at Davis-Thomas; high school delayed to October

Superintendent provided a facilities update saying the Davis-Thomas project is “done” aside from door numbering and that cafeteria windows are installed and looking good. He said, “the doors are all in … the frames are in,” and noted work on the high‑school doors was delayed after the first shipment of 15–20 frames arrived the wrong size and had to be refabricated, pushing the job back about six weeks.
To meet fire‑egress requirements, the district is prioritizing classroom doors at the non‑sprinklered CTE Center and will complete classroom egress before demoing certain corridor doors; the superintendent said that strategy keeps the building within compliance while work continues. He told the board the fire marshal will re‑inspect Friday and staff are aiming for an October completion for hardware, keying and numbering. The superintendent also said the contractor’s workmanship has been good despite the scheduling setback and that the main entrance storefront would be demoed and replaced midweek.
