Randolph County EDC asks Ramseur for $1,100 as county projects expand

Crystal Gattis, business recruitment director for the Randolph County Economic Development Corporation, told the Ramseur council the EDC focuses on industry recruitment, supporting existing businesses, site and building product development, marketing and workforce efforts.
"We're all about industry, manufacturing, distribution, warehousing, creating job opportunities for the citizens of Randolph County," Gattis said, summarizing the EDC's priorities and noting the organization is funded roughly 70% by local governments and 30% by private donors and its "Randolph Rise Up" campaign. She highlighted recent and prospective projects in the county, including an Environmental Air Systems expansion described in the presentation as about a $20 million investment with roughly 300 jobs and the arrival of Earth Retention Industries to the former Crawford Knitting site in Ramseur. Gattis added the EDC administered a building reuse grant she described as about $350,000 and said staff are working to grow the pipeline of prospects.
Gattis formally requested a $1,100 appropriation from the town for fiscal year 2026–2027, saying the amount has remained unchanged for several years. A board member moved to provide the requested appropriation, another seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
