Board approves first reading of district facility plan, appoints Travis Harley as hearing officer

The Anderson County Board approved the draft District Facility Plan (DFP) for its first reading on Oct. 14 and authorized a public hearing to solicit community input on the four‑year facility plan. Local Planning Committee members said the DFP focuses on maintenance, campus needs and selected upgrades; a previously requested new high school was removed from the plan at the committee's request.
Board members also appointed Travis Harley as the hearing officer to lead the public review and set the LPC public hearing for Nov. 11, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. "Our LPC was able to get to a plan that was unanimously voted on to forward to you this evening," a committee representative said, and the board moved the plan forward by roll call. Discussions included safety and traffic concerns at the Turner campus and the committee's request to explore a second entrance with county or state highway officials.
