At the Oct. 14 meeting, the Anderson County Schools finance officer reported a 6.8% revenue increase for the month and walked the board through the key drivers of that gain: property tax receipts rose by $33,000, motor vehicle taxes by $32,000, utility taxes by $234,000, and interest on investments by $107,000.
The officer also told the board that the state's SEEK tentative calculations updated district allocations upward by about $395,000 compared with the district forecast and that an increase of 151 students in the at‑risk count contributed to additional funding. He cautioned that non‑salary expenditures rose 8.8%, primarily from property insurance increases of roughly $100,000, and that salary/benefit expenses have been lower this year because several positions were funded from grant sources.
Board members approved the financial report by roll call. The finance officer said as the year progresses the district expects salary and benefit numbers to trend upward but that the SEEK adjustment is a positive near‑term development for planning.
