During excavation for a new ramp at the Saffel Street cafeteria, project staff found an underground storm drainage pipe located directly beneath the planned footing. Project representatives told the board that the as-built piping did not match older plans and that the pipe must be relocated before the ramp foundation can be installed.
Suzanne Irwin asked trustees to allow the contractor to proceed under a not-to-exceed authorization of $9,975 and an additional 41 days so the work could be completed prior to the next board meeting; she said a final, negotiated change order with the actual price (expected to be lower) would be presented in October. The board approved the authorization on a unanimous roll-call vote.
