At its Nov. 11 meeting the Anderson County Board of Education approved the treasurer's financial report for October. The treasurer reported an overall revenue increase of 2.6%, citing $155,000 in additional property tax receipts, $8,000 in utility tax, $51,000 in omitted taxes and $114,000 in investment interest; SEEK revenue for the month was roughly $75,000 higher year‑to‑date (about 1.8%).
The treasurer said salary and benefit expenditures fell about 3.3%, in part because some positions are now grant‑funded rather than paid from the general fund, and because the district's contribution to the County Employees Retirement System decreased about 4%. Non‑salary expenditures rose 20.3% compared with last year. “There’s two main reasons for that number,” the treasurer said: timing of property tax receipts and the purchase of two buses this year, which added roughly $250,000 in outlays not present in last year’s figures. The board approved the report by roll‑call vote (Jason Collins, Scott Brown, Steve Carmichael, Sunny F, James Sergeant voting yes).
