Town Manager Dearman told the council that the county informed the town it would not approve a proposed night-shift differential in the municipal law enforcement services contract. Eliminating that differential reduced personnel and percentage-based benefit costs, lowering the town's contract by $8,670.
"There are no additional changes to the contract, just those reductions in benefit allocations," Dearman said, and recommended the council approve the updated agreement with the county sheriff's office.
Councilman Woodcock moved to accept the revised contract and a council member seconded. With no discussion the council approved the revision by voice vote. The change takes effect per the updated county agreement and reduces the town's annual contract obligation by the stated amount.
