Board approves construction payments, change orders and commissioning services

The Anderson County School Board approved a series of construction payments and change orders during its Aug. 12 meeting, including Payment Summary No. 10 for project BG23‑130 totaling $586,500 and a payment of $143,500 for Saffle project BG24‑295.
Board members also approved several change orders and additional work authorizations. Packet figures listed a $744,120 change order to Total Power Electrical Services and another $398,158 order to accommodate added power and relocation work at the secure entry vestibule; change order No. 3 for the Saffle cafeteria (BG24‑295) reflected a decrease of about $15,389.30 due to reuse of existing stone, reuse of an existing door and district labor for floor waxing. The board approved payment of $89,113 to Rosar Architects for design services across multiple projects.
Facilities staff reported that most work is complete on the Saffle and Anderson projects except for final slabs at secure entries, HVAC testing and balancing and exterior siding and ramp items at the cafeteria, with expected completion dates in the coming weeks. Staff recommended holding off use of the new secure entry vestibules for a few days after door installation to allow commissioning and troubleshooting. The board also approved commissioning services from Facility Commissioning Group for $47,500 to perform third‑party testing and functional checks for HVAC and mechanical systems.
All construction and contract motions were approved by unanimous roll‑call votes. Staff said many of the commissioning and remaining items will be performed after hours to avoid disruption to school operations.
