The Human Resources director presented a FY27 request that represents a roughly 5% increase over FY26 and said the personnel line reflects RTM-approved wage adjustments. "The proposed fiscal year 27 human resources budget was developed with a strong emphasis on fiscal responsibility," Christine said, noting the increase primarily supports anticipated legal fees for ongoing contract negotiations and renewals of training platforms and employee assistance programs.
Board members asked about recruitment channels (Indeed, CCM, professional associations) and whether additional online posting or LinkedIn outreach might be used; Christine said the town posts on its website, Indeed and professional associations depending on the role and that newspaper advertising is less cost-effective. The board also discussed legal-fee budgeting and the selection of outside counsel for discrete matters (planning and zoning, labor), with the chair noting that the town attorney is a charter position and that specialty counsel is sometimes engaged for planning or labor matters. The board approved the HR budget.
