Welty asked the board to move the regular August meeting from Monday the 17th to the 24th to give staff more time for advertising related to the tax levy. “I'm gonna ask if we can just move the meeting on the 17th to the 24th,” Welty said, noting the change would avoid a special meeting at the end of the month. He also proposed moving regular meetings up an hour — from 7 p.m. to 6 p.m. — to reduce late-night burdens on staff who close at 4:30 p.m. Several aldermen said they would need to check personal work schedules before agreeing to a permanent change.
No formal motion was made; Mayor and aldermen agreed to have staff check availability and revisit the proposal. The next meeting date was set for Monday, Aug. 3, at 7 p.m., and Welty said he would follow up once schedules were confirmed.
