Council approves bridge and valve work; smaller backflow installs move forward

The council also approved a $5,610 purchase order to Ramble Engineering & Construction to install two backflow/check valves at specified outfalls to limit backflow into low‑lying streets.
City Manager Kyle Regler said the backflow installation leverages experienced local contractors and reuse of some parts from prior installations to reduce costs. On the larger question of the 9th Street pump, a motion to award the $439,920 bid failed to advance after no second; councilors and residents said they will continue evaluating smaller, targeted solutions versus a larger pump project.
