Dr. Browning presented the annual professional development plan, saying it was built from a comprehensive needs assessment and will emphasize tier-one instruction, instructional technology, supports for English learners and students with disabilities, and leadership capacity-building.
"We started our professional development plan by really circle circling around what our priorities were," Dr. Browning said, outlining a multi-layered approach of one-time PD sessions, ongoing cohorts, instructional coaching, PLCs, and leadership trainings. The plan uses TSI grant funds to support multiple-day PD cohorts in math, reading and science and expands coaching and collaborative principal walkthroughs.
The plan includes a calendar of weekly and monthly professional learning activities across the division, adds Friday time for collaborative work, and proposes cohorts tied to tiered instruction and differentiated needs. Presenters noted an intent to tailor sessions to assistant principals and to expand an "aspiring administrators" program initiated last spring.
Board members posed no substantive objections; staff said they will continue to align PD activities to observed student outcomes and to use documented logs and sign-in sheets to track implementation.
The presentation was informational; the board approved related agenda items elsewhere in the meeting but did not take a separate vote on the PD plan at this session.
