Parents and teachers push for bilingual programs, stronger elementary safety and more diverse staff

At the public-feedback portion of the forum, multiple attendees identified priorities they want the district to preserve or expand. One participant urged early foreign-language exposure, saying simply, "A bilingual child," to underscore support for elementary-level language offerings. Another attendee praised the district’s arts programs and a parent described the importance of keeping small classroom sizes and community-friendly teachers.
Safety and representation also drew sustained comments. A parent said, "I currently can walk in my daughter's school and I should be able I should have to be buzzed in to be honest at this point," calling for reviewed access controls and more after-hours oversight. Teachers and other participants called for more diverse instructional staff and cultural-competency training so classroom personnel better reflect and understand the district’s changes in demographics.
