The Conservation Commission voted to issue a negative determination for a proposed 33-foot boardwalk across a stream on Lake Trail after the trails committee explained a narrowed 2'8" tread to reduce wetland disturbance.
Allan (trails committee) said the narrower width is deliberate: "2'8 is not just a random number ... 1/3 of an 8 foot board" and argued the reduced width lets the boardwalk fit in a tight corridor while avoiding vegetated wetlands. Staff noted the midspan will be a longer span to keep supports clear of the bank and recommended a negative determination provided the sills remain outside protected resource areas. The commission approved the negative determination by roll call.
