The Bassett Unified Board reported several actions taken in closed session at the July 21 meeting.
The board announced it had accepted a settlement of $1,250,000 in the matter of Bassett Unified School District v. Beltero Real Estate Services (case no. 21PSCV00399). The board stated that all proceeds from the settlement will be recommitted to bond funds.
The board also reported multiple personnel actions: approval (pending onboarding/clearance) of Brianne Umana as Director of Special Education; approval of Maritza Galavitz as high‑school principal at BASIS Senior High School effective July 22, 2026 (vote recorded with one board member recorded as 'no'); and approval of Cynthia Corral as middle‑school principal at Torch Middle School and principal at Noah Vista Continuation High School effective July 22, 2026.
