The Holcomb USD 363 Board of Education on a voice vote approved an exclusive uniform contract with Nike that the administration said will run for five years and provide financial and product discounts to the district.
"Nike will give us $4,000 a year for 5 years, so $20,000 total," Lucas, an administrator who presented the proposal, told the board. He said the agreement is intended to help the district brand its programs and provide discounts for coaches and students.
Board members asked about turnaround time, pricing comparisons with Under Armour and whether the contract creates a minimum annual purchase obligation. Lucas said there is no required minimum spend, middle‑school programs could use lower‑cost brands such as Holloway when Nike products are not cost‑efficient, and Nike does have longer production lead times that the administration intends to manage by ordering in advance.
The contract’s term was presented as through 06/30/2031. After discussion about marketing value and logistics, the board moved, seconded and approved the contract.
The board’s approval follows the administration’s recommendation to keep purchases aligned with seasonal replacement schedules and to use the Nike relationship to secure discounts and a modest annual payment that will be reinvested across programs.
