"They're supposed to be here on the 10th and to do the work," the staff member overseeing facilities said, adding that both air and ground temperatures must stay above 40 degrees for crews to proceed. The staff member said the district declined the contractor's suggestion that the district assume liability to speed completion and that the district is holding the final payment "north of $300,000" until the punch list is completed.
Board members pressed staff about contingency plans if weather or other issues delay work beyond the target window. The superintendent said the district intends to keep the final payment until the work meets contract standards. No formal additional appropriation or emergency action was taken; the board directed staff to monitor timing and report back.
The update followed earlier remarks in the meeting noting ongoing practices on the facility and staff assurances that school activities could continue while work is being scheduled.
