The Village of Commercial Point will create and advertise a funded part‑time administrative assistant position at about 30 hours per week, council members heard. The mayor said the role would have flexible hours and "reporting to me just like Paula does for the last 10 years," and that the job is already budgeted.
Councilors asked whether the position would include benefits, leave or any parks and recreation responsibilities. Wendy and other staff said past part‑time positions in the village did not include insurance and that the council could choose to add leave or other benefits; they stressed the need for consistency with past practice. The mayor and staff said parks and recreation duties could be discussed later if the position becomes full time: "I would hate to put more on because it is a lot," one official said about adding duties immediately.
The council agreed to review an employee guideline book at its regular August meeting; if the book and job description are approved the village will advertise the position. No formal vote was recorded at this meeting.
