Gene Maricle presented a pedestrian-safety study conducted with Olson Engineering recommending a four-way crosswalk at the intersection of 158th Street and Garden Parkway to address rising foot traffic from the trail network and nearby buildings.
Maricle said the implementation plan includes continental-style pavement markings, new signage, and ground-applied glass beads (which arrived the day of the meeting). He told the council the city will proceed with installation once all material has been received. Councilmember Sherry voiced support, noting the route serves young people and park users and urging the city to help control traffic in the area.
