City Administrator Leslie Riverola asked the council to adopt Resolution 2025-03 to revise the city's legal description and officially record two voluntary annexations approved in 2024. Riverola said the prior comprehensive cleanup occurred in 2019 and the current resolution updates the legal description to reflect changes since then.
"Those voluntary petitions for annexation were ultimately accepted and approved by this governing body, and so it is appropriate for the city to update our boundaries of the legal description of the city of Basehor," Riverola said. Staff explained the update ensures proper collection of franchise fees, census records, and property tax and requested council adoption. A motion to adopt the resolution was made and the council approved it on a 3-0 vote.
