Officer Williams honored with lifesaving award after overdose response

The council recognized an officer for lifesaving action after a Jan. 10 medical call in which a patient had lost consciousness. A city captain (S8) said Officer Williams arrived to find CPR already in progress, moved the patient to a better position, assessed and gathered bystander information, and began life-saving efforts until Fairmont Township fire personnel administered naloxone.
"These quick and decisive efforts by Officer Williams contributed to saving the life of the patient who was later transported to the hospital," the captain said, and credited the officer and the Basehor Police Department. Family members of Officer Williams joined council members for a photograph after the brief presentation.
