Deputy City Administrator Maddie Bowden asked the mayor and council to sign authorization documents so the city can transmit project information to the Kansas Department of Transportation and proceed toward construction on the 158th Street improvement project. Bowden said the city received $5,100,000 in federal grant funding for the work and described project limits.
"The project boundaries are 155th ... west on parallel all the way to 100 and 59th," Bowden said, describing similar improvements to a prior 155th Street project. Staff said the Council had already approved the project in the budget and no formal tonight approvals were required; signatures were requested to satisfy KDOT timelines. The Council allowed the mayor and three council members to sign the authorization and posed for a photo following the signing request.
