Basehor staff seeks council consensus to sign letter supporting Leavenworth County Safe Streets grant

Deputy City Administrator Maddie Bowden presented a draft letter of support for Leavenworth County’s application to the U.S. Department of Transportation Safe Streets and Roads for All grant program. Bowden said the project under consideration would fund safety improvements along 158th Street outside Basehor city limits and that Leavenworth County had requested the letter; staff recommended the council give the mayor general consensus to sign the letter. “Leavenworth County has been incredible partners to us when we pursue grants,” Bowden said.
Bowden told the council a vote was not required and staff only needed direction to allow the mayor to sign. Council members voiced support without additional conditions and the mayor moved on to the next agenda item.
