The council voted to set a public hearing for code violations at 314 North Jefferson on Sept. 1 after Code Enforcement Officer Ben Stuck described a vacant house with a deteriorated roof that sheds shingles into neighboring yards, outbuildings with loose metal panels and vehicles that have not moved for an extended period. Stuck said he supplied photos showing limited change since his prior inspection and recommended proceeding to a hearing because notices produced no remedy.
"The house is vacant," Stuck said, describing missing maintenance, blown-off shingles and outbuilding metal roofing that has become a hazard; he said neighboring property owners have been affected. Council adopted Resolution 2026-08 to set a September hearing date and directed staff to publish the notice.
