Council adopts continuing-education pay schedule to accompany municipal policy

City Administrator Stiles presented a training schedule to be incorporated into previously adopted municipal policy 1-12. The schedule lists a range of training incentives tied to specific programs, from small hourly pay increases for short courses to multi-year apprenticeship steps for linemen and multi-month programs such as Certified Public Managers.
Stiles said the policy "allows you to amend this at any time" and recommended the council adopt the schedule to close out outstanding procedural steps. Council moved, seconded and approved the schedule by voice vote. Several council members praised the approach as a retention and development tool and noted Parks & Recreation will be able to add department‑specific training when appropriate.
