The council adopted Resolution 26:319 on July 21 to authorize purchase and delivery of omni recycling carts (the docket references 81,664 gallon units under an HGAC contract) for the recycling division. DPW staff explained the carts will be distributed to residents through a public giveaway and that the acquisition is funded by a recycling grant.
Councilmembers raised distribution logistics and asked the director to allocate some carts to council offices for constituent distribution. "We get a lot of calls from our residents that are in need of recycling cans," Council President Mims said, asking DPW to set aside an allotment for councilmembers to distribute in their wards.
The resolution passed unanimously with council requesting a distribution plan and schedule from DPW.
