Arts office outlines CANVAS cultural plan and seeks Pine Hills input

Orange County Arts & Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Planning Group presented details of CANVAS, a joint cultural plan, and asked Pine Hills residents to help shape Phase 2 of the effort. Vicki Landon said the office invests "at least $15 million" in art activities and emphasized that the plan aims to advance cultural equity, honor local history and support young artists.
Linda Flynn of the Cultural Planning Group said the plan will use six guiding pillars and that a community survey is open until the end of January; residents may upload pictures and descriptions to a Vision Board to suggest public artworks. Presenters discussed using federal funds for public art, installing art trails and informational placards (including QR codes) and coordinating projects with Evans High School to highlight local history and attract visitors.
