Pine Hills NID staff report pocket park, newsletter revamp and parade plans

At the Dec. 4 meeting of the Pine Hills Neighborhood Improvement District (NID) Advisory Council, NID staff provided a multi-part update on neighborhood projects and outreach. "The pocket park is now in place and the trees will be maintained by Ideas 4 Us for three years," NID staff member Tamara Johnson said, and staff confirmed county conversations about adding game tables to the space are ongoing.
Johnson said the NID is revamping its newsletter to create space to highlight vetted local businesses and that staff are canvassing businesses on foot. She noted an off-duty sheriff's Office officer regularly patrols the NID and that the sheriff can be requested to sit in front of a business if necessary. Staff asked attendees not to misrepresent information shared with the public and said marketing for the pocket park and related programming should be ready by the end of December.
The update included calendar items: the Pine Hills parade was scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7 (assembly at Barnett Park at 9:30 a.m.), a lunch-and-learn is planned for January at the Pine Hills Community Center, and transit-related work (Lynx) was expected to be completed by mid-February. The council met without a quorum and no formal votes were recorded on these items.
