U-46 lists completion dates, ribbon-cuttings as summer construction progresses

Board members heard an extended facilities and construction update on July 20 from district capital staff, who outlined timelines and milestone events across multiple projects.
Dr. Anne Williams, the district’s capital strategy and operations officer, said Kimball Middle School’s substantial completion date remains July 31 so furniture and cleaning can finish before staff return in mid-August and that a ribbon-cutting is scheduled Aug. 19. She said Kenyon Woods’ bus turnaround and site utilities should be complete in about two weeks with a planned ribbon-cutting Aug. 13. On Legacy Middle School she reported “over 100 trade people on-site” and said the project’s schedule calls for substantial completion in late fall so the building will be ready ahead of next school year. A new Elgin elementary being built on the former David C. Cook warehouse has ongoing demolition; the district scheduled a groundbreaking for Sept. 9 at 3:30 p.m.
Mr. Lindholm and other project leads reviewed progress at Century Oaks (mobile classroom connections and expected substantial completion in early August) and at Glenbrook (interior demolition nearly complete; staff and students will relocate to Hanover Countryside Elementary for the 2026–27 year). Project teams highlighted traffic improvements such as a turning lane on Rorsen Road intended to alleviate congestion and noted dust suppression and misting systems used during demolition at the David C. Cook site.
The board viewed a short video summarizing work across sites and had no substantive questions at the conclusion of the presentation. Administration emphasized that the schedules are intended to align with new attendance boundaries and the shift of sixth graders into middle schools.
